Senior cellar assistants from estates and cellars in Robertson, Worcester and Breedekloof attended the workshop to learn more about the aim and use of cooling and heating during the different winemaking processes.
Attie Louw, winemaker of Opstal Estate facilitated the workshop and told the cellar assistants more about the practical aspects of winemaking, as well as the challenges South African cellars experience with cooling and heating during the winemaking processes. He also referred to European circumstances to give a wider perspective. The presentation was interactive, and the cellar assistants made contributions during the workshop.
Cellar assistants tasted and compared different Chenin Blanc wines from the Breedekloof. They learned more about the production of Chenin Blanc in the area and the versatility of the cultivar. The cellar assistants received information about the export of Chenin Blanc wines and the Old Vines Project.
