The Michelangelo’s exciting new partnership agreement with the Italian events company, Fiera Milano, puts the competition in a very strong position to offer our medal winners opportunities to show and sell their award-winning wines and spirits in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, as well as at Fiera Milano’s Food and Wine Shows in Europe. Michelangelo has also committed to Namibia for 2017.
Based in South Africa, the Michelangelo is an international wine and spirits competition, widely considered to be equivalent to international wine competitions held around the world (eg IWSC and Concours Mondial de Bruxelles).
The 2016 winners will be invited to join the new wave of activity, wholly aimed at giving producers maximum marketing and sales opportunities. This will include several social events in collaboration with Fiera Milano and The Good Food and Wine Show during 2016 and 2017: the Michelangelo Pavillion at the Johannesburg Good Food and Wine Show at the end of July will showcase producers such as Wellington Wines, Raka, Klein Doolhof, Montpellier, Perdeberg and Leipzig as well as Woolworths who will present their Michelangelo winning wines.
We have again invited a dynamic panel of 25 international wine and spirits judges from 22 countries. All wines are judged blind according to the international 100-point system and awarded Platinum, Gran d’Or, Gold and Silver medals. In addition, 15 trophies are awarded for class winners.
Delivery of samples for the twentieth Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards is awaited. The competition closes for entries on Friday, 29 July.
