The Pebbles Project After-School Club programme walked away with a gold award in the Department of Social Development Ministerial Youth Excellence Awards 2016.

After a strenuous application process, extended programme evaluation and a tough presentation to a panel of judges, the Pebbles Project After-School Club (ASC) programme was recently awarded a gold at the award ceremony held at the Town Hall, Cape Town on Monday 20th June. Out of an original 48 applicant organisations, only three received the gold award and Pebbles was honoured to share the stage with the Amy Beihl Foundation and the Sozo Foundation.

"I am so proud of our amazing team who have worked hard for the last 9 years refining this ASC programme to the point that it's judged a good example of best practice in the field of youth development." comments Pebbles Director Sophia Warner. "We could not have done this without the funding and support that we have received from our core donors of this programme, which over the years has included the DSD Children and Families sub-directorate, the FACET Foundation, the Cape Wine Auction Trust, JF Hillebrand, Distell, KWV and Accolade amongst others. Onwards and upwards now; our goal is to now roll out this programme to new geographical areas in order to reach more Winelands children. Our dream of a leadership and skills development centre is still alive and one day will become a reality."
