This Saturday 17th October will see the World Blind Wine Tasting Championships taking place at Chateau Neuf du Pape in France.
South Africa is sending a team of course, put together by Jean Vincent Ridon, who has single-handedly managed the process of finding the top tasters in South Africa to participate in the World Champs, combing the Western Cape, Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal.
Wine.co.za is very pleased to be a media partner and proud to sponsor the team's branded shirts
The SA national team comprises captain Ralph (2nd time Team SA), sommelier at Karibu Restaurant in the V&A Waterfront(and 2nd time Team SA); Joseph T. Dhafana from La Colombe; Anita Streicher Nel who works at Morgenhof and of course Veronica from Restaurant Mosaic.
Earlier this year Veronica was the winner of the three year Restaurant Mosaic Sommelier Protégé Bursary and was selected from a search held nationwide in conjunction with the South African Wine Tasting Championships.
On Wed 14th Oct, the team visited Mosaic for lunch, where the Chef Chantel Dartnall served dishes from her new Origins menu including her acclaimed dish Mousse de Mer which she first presented earlier this year during a visit to Italy, while sommelier Germain Lehodey did a blind tasting with the team.
The team flew to Europe on Wed night, and will be competing against 19 other countries. They were accompanied by Team South Africa manager Jean-Vincent Ridon.
We wish Team South Africa great success!
