Veritas Awards
The Azure Restaurant at the five-star boutique Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Camps Bay will host a Veritas fine wine and dining experience on Monday 28 September starting at 19:00.
Executive chef Christo Pretorius has designed a variety of exquisite dishes to complement a selection of Veritas Gold and Double Gold award-winning wines and brandies.
Guests will be welcomed with Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut. The four-course sumptuous menu features an Amuse Bouche of Forest Mushrooms with soy glaze mousse, hazelnuts and passionfruit. Neil Ellis Chardonnay Elgin 2013 is paired with Pickled Pork Loin, a gastronomic delight of crispy pork crackling, mustard crème, pickled cranberries, avocado puree and pearl onions. Farmed Prawns presented as a prawn pot sticker with fermented miso, spring vegetables and tentsuyu squid broth will be accompanied by Rhinofields Sauvignon Blanc 2014. More mouth-watering magic await in the form of poached Grabouw Lamb Loin with confit belly, roast carrot and cumin puree, buttermilk curd, garden peas, dukkah crumble and lamb jus matched with the 2011 Spier Creative Block 5 and 2011 Lomond Cape Agulhas Conebush Syrah.
As the final act, the Nederburg Edelkeur 2011 perfectly complements a decadent dessert of White Chocolate Mousse, croissant ice cream, toasted almond sponge and forest berry gel. Coffee will be served with Van Ryn Reserve 12 year old Brandy.
Veritas vice-chairperson and well-known Cape Wine Master, Bennie Howard, will discuss the wines and share interesting insights on the history and operations of Veritas, South Africa's oldest and most authoritative wine show.
