Raka Pinotage has been nominated as one of the top 20 Pinotage wines of the 2024 Absa Top 10 Pinotage competition. The final top 10 will be announced this week, on Wednesday 29 August, and we can barely wait until then!
It is the third time that Raka Pinotage has been nominated for the top 20. In 2003 we received a top 10 place and we were nominated again in 2008, when Josef Dreyer was newly appointed as our winemaker. The jury is still out and everybody on the farm is holding their breath.
Josef feels honoured to have made it into the top 20 again. Looking at the list of tTop 20 finalists, there are some incredible wines and winemakers.
Josef says: "Truly great winemakers, many of them have been nominated before and some of them even won a few times. I respect them all but I am not intimidated by them. Every competition starts anew with blind tastings and everybody has an equal chance. I believe in the quality of our wines."
