Sunday, 2 February 2025 marked 366 years of South African wine industry. A truly remarkable celebration and unique among wine-producing countries.
Rich in its winemaking heritage, with a history that can be traced to a specific date – 2 February 1659 – it tells a tale of passion, endurance and craftmanship.

Harvest parade
1 February 2025 marked an exciting day for residents of our vibrant community. The highly anticipated annual Harvest Parade took place amidst much fanfare and jubilation in the streets of Stellenbosch. This event, that symbolises the start of harvest season, was yet again a grand spectacle, capturing the vitality and camaraderie that rest at the soul of our town.
For a third consecutive year, Lanzerac reigned supreme, once again bringing the trophy home as winners of the parade. The spirit of unity, mutual respect, dedication, and innovative ideas of every team member played a pivotal role in scripting this momentous success.
As we revel in this joyous achievement, it’s also a time that marks the start of a new harvest season, reflecting the resilience of our diligent farmers who tirelessly work the fields to yield bountiful crops that adorn our dining tables.

On 28 February, we celebrate the glory of Lanzerac’s excistence – a history spanning the vast period of 333 years. Nestled in the heart on the foothills of Jonkershoek Valley, Stellenbosch, Lanzerac bases its heritage in the rich tapestry of the diverse culture, offering a luxury experience that transcends time.
We invite you to embrace storied history and indulge in time-old tradition, as we bring alive the ancient Cheese and Wine experience at Taphuis, from Friday, 28 February to Sunday, 2 March 2025.
Cost: R333 per platter, for two guests, inclusive of a glass of wine each.
