Sentinel Vineyards
The panel of both local and international judges at the Fairbairn Trophy show make it arguably the definitive South African Wine Show and certainly so, according to highly-regarded wine guru Michael Fridjhon.
However, if one is talking Pinotage, then the definitive assessment of the varietal must be the ABSA "Top Ten" Pinotage competition held last week. With well over 100 entries, the aim of this event is to try and find the Top Ten Pinotages in South Africa.
The results of this competition again confirmed that Sentinel Vineyards have produced a winner, and confirmed winemaker Walter Finlayson and his all lady team of Adele Dunbar and Danielle du Toit as leading proponents of this variety in South Africa.
Alas it is all too often the case in events like this that by the time you have heard the winners the wine is all but sold out. Good news however - while not exactly plentiful, we are confident that we have sufficient stock of this wine to provide a fairly wide spread, initially at least and your best bets are as follows ...............
