The two recipients of the Patrick Grubb Bursary for 2004, Jeremy Olivier (left) and Joe Gertse, are heading for the harvest in Bordeaux, France, where they will be working on the wine estates of illustrious past guest speakers of the Nederburg Auction.

Jeremy, cellar assistant at Distell, will spend time at Madame May de Lencquesaing's Château Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande and Joe, assistant winemaker at Havana Hills, will work at Château Mârgaux, under the guidance of Dr Paul Pontallier. Madame May was the guest speaker at this year's Nederburg Auction and Dr Pontallier in 1990. The Patrick Grubb Bursary, jointly established and funded by auctioneer Patrick Grubb and the Nederburg Auction in 1998, gives aspiring winemakers the opportunity to gain international experience in some of the finest wineries in the world.
