Deloitte Hosts Forum for Wine Farm Owners on Black Economic Empowerment

Professional services firm, Deloitte, today announced that they will host a panel discussion forum on Black Economic Empowerment in the South African Wine Industry at the Protea Hotel, Stellenbosch on the 17th of August 2004 at 14h00 - 16h00.

Deloitte also announced that Chief Executive of the South African Wine and Brandy Company (SAWB), Dr Johan van Rooyen, President of the Black Association of the Wine and Spirits Industry, Mr Nosey Pieterse, and Ms Philisiwe Buthelezi of the Department of Trade and Industry, would all be panelists in the discussions. They will be joined by partners from Deloitte's Audit, Tax, Corporate Finance and Legal divisions to discuss business challenges, opportunities and practicalities surrounding transformation in this sector.

The panel will discuss ground rules for empowerment, possible responses to the upcoming charter, finding the right venture partner, the funding of BEE transactions, skills transfer, delivery, pricing of transactions and an overview of opportunities and pitfalls in structuring BEE deals.

The panel will be chaired by Deloitte's industry leader for the wine industry, Michael van Wyk. Other representatives from Deloitte attending are: Des Kruger - Partner, Deloitte Tax; Cormac McCreesh - Partner, Deloitte Corporate Finance; Lwazi Bam - Partner, Deloitte Corporate Finance; and Kathy Jarvis - Partner, Deloitte Legal.

Attendance at the forum is free and all wine farm owners, industry bodies and potential BEE partners are invited to register to attend.
