Sterhuis and Raats Family Wines celebrate two of life’s luxuries
Sip on the finest selection of Sterhuis and Raats Family Wines and share in fine food par excellence when prominent Waterfront property, the Table Bay Hotel celebrates two of life’s indulgent luxuries during a special Food & Wine evening on 19 February at 19h30 in its landmark restaurant, The Atlantic.

To accompany the choice of magnificent wines, Executive Chef, Grant Cullingworth will pamper palates with an alluring 6-course menu that kicks off with luscious Local Oysters served with Nori Miso & Cucumber, Japanese Radish and Sevruga Caviar and Raats Original Chenin Blanc 2003 with its delicious ripe guava aromas.

Other mouth-watering delicacies include the Pastrami of Salmon with Tea & Herbs with an Asian twist accompanied by Pickled Pear, Ginger & Cucumber, Wasabi Crème Fraîche, Japanese Rice & Soya dressing that brings out the wonderful lemony palate of Sterhuis 2003 Sauvignon Blanc.

Raats Cabernet Franc 2001 is ideally served with the palatable Loin of Lamb main course which is steamed and baked, wrapped in Leek Polenta Cake, served with Ratatouille & Tarragon Aïoli. Round off the evening with the sweet simplicity of an indulgent Study of Chocolate.

Participating wineries Raats Family Wines and Sterhuis, both located in the Stellenbosch region, have been bottling their wines since 2000 and 2002 respectively. Raats Family Wines, run by brothers Bruwer, as winemaker, and Jasper Raats is renowned for its exceptional Chenin. Recently appointed as winemaker at Jordan Winery, Johan Kruger has produced maiden bottlings of Sauvignon and Merlot to be followed by Cabernet and Chardonnay at his own Sterhuis cellar.
