Having only been producing wine for three years, we are astonished at how widely known the GlenWood brand has become in the South African marketplace. We recently received a picture of a group of friends enjoying a bottle of ice cold GlenWood Sauvignon Blanc while relaxing at St. Lucia in Kwa Zulu Natal. Of course, we do take every opportunity to present our wines to the market and to obtain feedback. We have always believed that top quality wines can only be produced from top quality grapes. We are therefore passionate about the management of our vineyards and have consistently achieved placings in the top three in the Vinpro Block Evaluation Competition, which is run annually. Our popular vineyard and cellar tour is an easy way to learn what is involved.Our media launch some nine months ago resulted in several articles in all major wine journals, since which we have exhibited at all major tastings nationally, so the result should not be a surprise. Nonetheless it is very encouraging. You can expect to see more of the GlenWood name in the future as we expand our customer base and implement our aggressive marketing and PR plans.Since our small beginnings a few years ago, we have focused exclusively on two things: the quality of our wines and the building of the GlenWood brand in the South African marketplace. Now, because South Africa produces far more wine than is consumed locally, we are starting to investigate export possibilities and are talking to potential agents in the UK, Scandinavia, U.S.A and the Netherlands.Our people are the lifeblood of GlenWood. In addition to DP's wife Mariska, who is responsible for all administrative duties at GlenWood, the small management team includes Nicky Jacobs, who is responsible for the day-to-day activities in the vineyards.
