Boschendal Estate
It is often said that a good chef creates art in the kitchen and magic in your mouth. This was indeed the case when we were treated to the culinary stylings of the talented Chef Wandile Mabaso at the recent launch of the exclusive Business Day Most Wanted Club.

The launch was held in collaboration with some of the most coveted local and international luxury brands. The menu was introduced gracefully, with the lovely Boschendal Brut Cap Classique tantalising the palate on arrival. This then evolved to a presentation of entrée’s paired with an eclectic assortment of Boschendal favourites. The new Nicolas 2016 complemented spicy and savoury samosas, while the 1685 Sauvignon Blanc entertained seafood enthusiasts in a pairing with rich prawn servings.

When Chef Wandile prepares food, there is passion and pondering in every action. Each element a carefully measured ingredient to ensure the most perfect dish. It is this detail to craft that has translated in many opportunities for the talented chef. It has taken him from Soweto, where he grew up, to working alongside world famous chefs in as far as Paris - the culinary capital of the French cuisine he has fallen in love with.

For the main course, he continued to pleasure the senses, delivering a creamy and rich soup as the opening meal - while guests enjoyed more of our award winning Boschendal Brut Cap Classique.

As the grandeur of the evening continued in celebration of premium brands such as Daytona Motors and Carol Bouwer Handbags, Chef Wandile guided guests to another experience of flavoured leisure, introducing the pairing of the Boschendal Nicolas 2016 and a sumptuous roast lamb. The excellent concentration of fruit in this rich red blend, with prominent mulberry and plum flavours, was a perfect culinary match for the roast, resulting in a smooth mouthfeel and persistent spicy finish.

The “food artist” as he was referred to - capped an exquisite display of culinary excellence with a delicious mousse and cream, guided by our famous Boschendal Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2018. The truly versatile Sommelier’s wine matches with any cuisine, but the talented chef truly accessed the hints of strawberry and ripe red berries - to impart an intriguing aroma, and joyous mouth feel.

Thank you to our peers at Business Day Wanted and Daytona Motors for a lovely experience. It is always a pleasure to collaborate in your esteem.
