Groenvlei Farm is situated in the foothills of the Helderberg in the Stellenbosch Wine Appellation, a wine area that is known for its wonderful wines. Cooling breezes off False Bay ameliorate the summer heat in the vineyards and allow for linger hang time for the bunches before reaching ideal ripeness.

Peter Falke GM & Winemaker Werner Schrenk
This shows in the fruit intensity of the Estate’s Wines. GM and Winemaker, Werner Schrenk and his team give the vineyards the TLC they need to provide the best grapes to the winery. Bunch sorting is done in the vineyards and then berry sorting in the cellar to ensure that only the best grapes go through to the winemaking processes. The Estate produces a fine range of wines from the finest white, a Blanc de Noir and an MCC and then a range of truly sublime reds.

The Groenvlei Farmstead
Groenvlei is the most beautiful farm with its white washed collection of Cape Dutch Style buildings with bougainvillea cascading down the walls, a fabulous collection of roses, and lavender growing next to the vineyards. Dating back to the 18th century, the traditional gabled Cape Dutch buildings of the wine estate belie a contrasting modernity within.

The stately old homestead is partnered by a “boutique” winery, contemporary wine tasting room and luxurious outdoor lounge which have established Peter Falke Wines as the most elegant and serene sundowner retreat in the winelands.

The amenities on the estate are open from Tuesday to Sunday. The Little Store which you pass from the parking area carries an eclectic range of both local and imported crafts. Apart from the well-known Peter Falke Socks, made by the owner, there are handmade ceramics, oak cheese boards, tea towels, personalized aprons, caps and golf shirts. Often you will find seasonal vegetable and fresh cut roses or lavenders from the farm.

The tasting room and Outdoor Lounge are open, again from Tuesday to Sunday from 11h00 to 19h00, one of the latest closing wine Estates in the Stellenbosch Winelands.

There is a fabulous array of food available from Cheese Platters, Charcuterie, Nachos, Salads & Sundowner snacks. The full range of the Peter Falke Wines is available, and many by the glass so you can have a little taste around before deciding what you want to take home with you.

Jazz Events on a Sunday afternoon are great fun
The Estate often has exciting events, we have been to some lovely Jazz afternoons there, so do get on the mailing list so that you can be informed in advance.

The Estate is closed this Good Friday and also on Christmas, Boxing and New Year’s Day although the latter two are a long way off. Read more about Peter Falke Wines – CLICK HERE
