J.C. Le Roux sparkles as best brand in South Africa's townships

J.C. le Roux, the much-loved sparkling wine brand and South Africa’s first dedicated house of sparkling wines, has been awarded for the fourth time as the winner of the Ask Afrika Kasi Star Brand Champagne/Sparkling Wine category.

The Ask Afrika Kasi Star Brands surveys thousands of township consumers across the country on their favourite products and the brands they feel a sense of loyalty and commitment to. In addition to this year, J.C. le Roux achieved the award in 2014, 2015 and 2017.

The House of J.C. le Roux was established in 1982, the first dedicated to sparkling wine in South African, and winemaker, Elunda Basson, says that “a bottle of J.C. has undoubtedly been at the centre of almost every celebration and table in South African households over the past almost four decades.”

“Innovation has led to JC Le Roux spearheading sparkling wine production in South Africa, regularly being the first to launch exciting new styles and varietals. We were the first in the country to launch a red sparkling wine, La Chanson, and the first sparkling wine made solely from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. To date our Le Domaine is the leading sparkling wine in the country. We are passionate about bubbles and the fun they bring not only in making them but also every occasion and moment.  And it’s heart-warming to know that our consumers agree!”

The House of J.C. le Roux is situated in the beautiful Devon Valley in Stellenbosch and the lively tasting room is a must for any bubbly enthusiast. The different tastings will guide you through the magical production of the different styles of sparkling wine and you can even choose between pairing your bubbly with olives or nougat.

The restaurant offers an inviting space where you can order breakfast and lunch, and the al fresco deck with its spectacular views of vineyards and mountains is perfect for enjoying a variety of platters that range from oysters, a selection of cheeses served with preserves, tapas, delectable dips, salads and meat and prawn skewers.   

The House of J.C. Le Roux is open Mondays to Fridays from 09.00 until 16.00, Saturdays 09.00 until 15.00 and Sundays from 09.00 to 14.00. Kindly note the opening times are subject to change and seasonal, so best to confirm telephonically.
