Asara Wine Estate and Hotel
Harvest 2019 is all about quality, a hospitality industry mentorship award for Asara, a busy time at ProWein is capped by a Mundus Vini gold medal for our Vineyard Collection Cape Fusion 2015, classic Easter essentials at our deli, Asara-style steaks have been a hit at mise en place this season, a special guest, and more.

Harvest 2019 finished in the first week of April and we’re excited about the quality of the fruit. We also have lots of new French oak in the cellar this harvest so things are looking good for vintage 2019.

Asara received the Stellenbosch Private Hotel School’s trophy for ‘Hospitality Management Mentors’ at the school’s annual graduation ceremony in March, in recognition of our “valuable contribution to our [the school’s] management student’s professional development”. Estate Manager Pete Gottgens says: “We thank the hotel school for the award. It is vital to our hospitality industry that we nurture young talent and provide the opportunity to develop skills and on-the-job experience, and we are always happy to play our part”.

We had a busy and productive three days at the ProWein trade fair in Düsseldorf, and it was good to see increased interest in South African wines generally. We enjoyed showing off some of Asara’s yet-to-be-released wines, and Asara Brand Ambassador Mandla Patson and Winery Manager Sam Wiid were happy to toast the news that our Vineyard Collection Cape Fusion 2015 had just been awarded a Mundus Vini gold medal.
