Doolhof Wine Estate
The 2019 harvest started after a short growing season on Doolhof.

The rain we received over the past three months kept the groundwater table relatively high after a year (2018) in which we received almost 1000 mm of rain. 2018/2019 will typically be remembered as an abundant growing season here at Doolhof.

With this in mind and our climatic history, the rich foliage should also bring about early ripening.

Our first red grapes were harvested on the 1st of February. Some of our unique single vineyard sites are showing healthy yields, however some sites have already been visited by our local vineyard experts (read: wild pigs and baboons) and as a result the yields have been ‘managed’. The quality looks promising with loads of concentrated flavours and exceptional acidity; all auspicious early indicators for the after life in bottle.
