WORD FROM THE GRAPEVINE

An elegant update
Asara's five Courtyard Rooms were refurbished in early December in the same simple, modern style as the rooms in the rest of the hotel.

The Courtyard Rooms look onto the interior courtyard of the Shiraz wing with its magnificent London Plane tree and aromatic lavender beds, and offer an airy, tranquil ambience.

Stage 3 done
Asara Hotel’s epic renovation and refurbishment programme has so far included moving reception to the central courtyard, the addition of destination restaurant mise en place and the wood-fired bistro at Sansibar, the refurbishment of all the rooms in the hotel, and the addition of three new rooms (the Feature Rooms) and the Carillon suite. It’s already a complete transformation of the hotel – with fantastic results - and there’s more to come!

Record wine sales
November was a record month for Asara wine sales. Our wines are now going to 23 countries around the world, 22 of which include consistent repeat orders. No wonder we’re investing in new equipment in the wine cellar and new plantings in the vineyards.

It’s all about Sansibar too
We’re delighted to have so many wonderful local gins represented at our PureGin festival, but the day is also about celebrating Sansibar’s amazing collection of imported gins, now at around 250 and counting. The collection includes gins from 36 countries, and ranges from all the well-known brands to many hard-to-come-by, small- batch, craft gins.

In full bloom
Gorgeous flower arrangements are a big part of the look and feel of Asara. The lady responsible is florist Daleen van Pletzen. She describes the Asara look as “lush and abundant, full arrangements that express the beauty of the flowers.”
