With Charles Back at the helm of a tightly-run ship, there are always innovative projects around us, new and exciting varietals to plant and plenty of goat’s cheese to make, among a flurry of other activities. Recently, on the 20th October, Charles Back was presented with the award for the ‘Western Cape’s Farmer of the Year’ for 2017. Since 1977, Agricultural Writers SA has presented the Farmer of the Year and Agriculturalist of the Year award to various deserving farmers throughout South Africa.
Last night (10 November), the South African Farmer of the Year award ceremony was held in Bloemfontein, and we are incredibly proud to announce that our very own Charles was presented with this honourable award and title. Charles Back is officially Farmer of the Year for 2017!
Undoubtedly, his impact on the farm does not go unnoticed. Yesterday, Jessica Hector, one of our Fairtrade Premium Committee members and long-term vineyard team employees, felt so strongly about thanking Charles for all that he has done, that she wanted to send him her very own good luck message from everyone in the vineyard and cellar team.
