Come quickly, I’m tasting stars .. Platter’s stars ....with apologies to Dom Perignon! Friday night saw the launch of the Platter’s SA Wine Guide 2018 – South Africa’s definitive wine guide. We were on tenterhooks knowing that several of our wines were in with a chance of a coveted 5 star rating

A proud moment for Richard and the team!

We were blown away to be joint runners up, receiving no less than four 5 star awards, with another 6 wines receiving 4 1/2 stars each:

All three of our Clonal Selection wines received 5 stars, along with one of our Deconstructed Chardonnays.

Kershaw Elgin Chardonnay 2016 – a “fine successor to gorgeous 2015”.

Kershaw Elgin Syrah 2015 – “mixing the sensual and the cerebral with the promise of complex, luxurious pleasure to come”.

Kershaw Elgin Pinot Noir 2016 – “..incipient harmonious complexity .. deserves cellaring”.

Kershaw Deconstructed Lake District Bokkeveld Shales CY95 Chardonnay 2016 – “Charmingly aromatic .. focused and elegant”

Each of our wines has received an abundance of reservations and now has a waiting list but we are making a small number of mixed cases available – priority will be given to our Clonehead Club members with grateful thanks for their support.

The Kershaw Platter’s 2018 Case comprises:

2 bottles of Kershaw Elgin Chardonnay 2016
2 bottles of Kershaw Elgin Syrah 2015
1 bottle of Kershaw Elgin Pinot Noir 2016
and 1 bottle of Kershaw GPS Series Vermaaklikheid Chardonnay 2016

This final wine is the first release from our GPS Series, a new range that steps out of Elgin to explore premium vineyards from around the Cape.

This offer is available while stocks last, and only within South Africa. Priced at R2960 including delivery (please note, no trade price is available). Please email sales@richardkershawwines.co.za to request this offer.

Finally, huge congrats to all the wine producers celebrated at this year’s Platter’s launch, especially my fellow Elgin producers – our valley produced approximately 0.48% of SA’s wine production in 2016* but garnered an incredible ten 5 stars from the 111 awarded for 2018 – a remarkable achievement and one that shows the amazing ability of our cool climate region.

Now back to work in readiness for the forthcoming season,
