Backsberg Estate Cellars
Known as one of the largest arts festivals within the South African space, the Aardklop National Arts Festival held annually in Potchefstroom celebrates the cultural heritage and spirit of primarily Afrikaans theatre, dance, music, cabaret and the visual arts. The 2017 festival will run from the 2nd until the 8th of October.

This year both Backsberg Estate Cellars and Blaauwklippen Vineyards have jumped on board as joint product sponsors for the event and they could not be more pleased.

In 2016, Aardklop witnessed a spectacular revival of art and culture with the re-inception of the festival. The weeklong annual event typically contributes over R50 million to the local community and acts as a vital source of revenue as well as a forum for cultural dissemination. Situated in various venues in and around the lively town, the expected 70 000 festival goers will witness some of the very best talent our country has to offer.

Simon Back, CEO of Backsberg Estate Cellars, states that “with over 100 years of quality winemaking behind us, we love to support our local heritage and are thrilled to be actively involved with such a prestigious event.” Parri Lückhoff, Key Accounts Manager at Blaauwklippen, could not agree more. “Wine and culture have always gone hand-in-hand. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase our wines to an audience who truly appreciates South African flavour”.

Backsberg and Blaauwklippen wines will be making an appearance at several key moments throughout the Aardklop festival. Guests can expect to enjoy a complimentary glass of either of these wines from both the VIP Area and Aardklop Rede-Kabel Gesprekkereeks. These wines will also be available for purchase at the following areas during the festival: the VIP area, the Aardklop Rede-Kabel Gesprekkereeks, Media24 Feeskafee and at the Art and Wine Tent.

In addition to being able to purchase these great wines, festival goers will also have the opportunity to win wine at various shows throughout the week. These farms will also be hosting an online competition prior to the festival opening. Simply like their respective pages, share the post and stand to win one of five sets of tickets up for grabs.

Alexa Strachan, Aardklop’s Festival Manager, says: “It is fantastic to have two such noteworthy wine farms on board and we look forward to a successful partnership.”
