Babylonstoren
The annual ‘Rosé Rocks’ wine competition, South Africa’s only dedicated rosé wine competition, announced the results of this year’s judging and our Mourvèdre Rosé rocked with gold!

An elegant dry wine of a sophisticated salmon colour and delicious hints of raspberries and rose petals. A sip leads to a delightful discovery of creamy strawberry yoghurt, the sweet airiness of candy-floss and a subtle punch of acidity.

With its face to the sun and its feet in the water, this witty cultivar will spark the creative senses and leave you with a lingering mouth-feel. A wine for pink food, ironically. Try trout, Norwegian salmon, slow-roasted beetroot and fresh or cooked strawberries. Grapes were given 2 hours’ skin contact in the press after which it underwent cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 3 weeks. Racked of primary lees and kept on thin lees for 3 months before bottling. Preferably drink within 18 months after production.

Colour: Light pink salmon colour.
Bouquet: Raspberries and rose petals on the nose.
Taste: Strawberry yoghurt on the palate with candy-floss finish and fresh acidity for a delicious, lingering mouth-feel.
Alcohol: 13%

The judging was conducted by a panel of 6 judges headed up by Allan Mullins and included MarthelizeTredoux, Malu Lambert, Joseph Dhafana, Tatiana Marcetteau and Praisy Dlamini.
