Bouchard Finlayson recently (27 July 2017) hosted an informal wine tasting to thank members of the wine trade within the local community, for their continued support during a year that has to date, already produced several highlights for the boutique winery.

Hosted by Peter Finlayson (founder of Bouchard Finlayson) and winemaker Chris Albrecht, guests celebrated achievements that included Bouchard Finlayson’s recent ranking as the Top Red Wine Producer in South Africa in the 2017 South African Wine Index (SAWi) awards.

At the 2017 International Wine Challenge Bouchard Finlayson received a Gold Medal and Regional Trophy for the Galpin Peak Pinot Noir 2015. The 2015 vintage was tasted at the event, as well as the 2009, the latter poured from a double magnum (3-litre) bottle, alongside a tasting of the first ever release of the red blend, Hannibal (2001). Rounding up the red wines were the current vintage of Hannibal (2015) and flagship Tête de Cuvée Galpin Peak Pinot Noir 2013. The Bouchard Finlayson Tête de Cuvée label presents a cameo selection of the top Pinot Noir barrels from any particular vintage, showcasing only the very best, and released only during exceptional vintages.

White wines tasted at the function included all current vintages (Missionvale Chardonnay 2015, Crocodile's Lair Chardonnay 2015 which received a Gold Medal at the 2017 International Wine Challenge, Sans Barrique Chardonnay 2016, Sauvignon blanc 2016, Blanc de Mer 2015 and Reserve Sauvignon blanc 2016), as well as a special tasting of Reserve Sauvignon blanc 2009.
