The Bakery at Jordan - Jordan Wine Estate
The successful synergetic relationship between Gary and Kathy Jordan of Jordan Wine Estate and Jordan Restaurant, operated by George and Louise Jardine has been further strengthened with the opening of The Bakery at Jordan.
Baking has been one of George Jardine’s greatest passions. With the focus on the large wood-fired oven in the new bakery, George is happy to share his passion with his patrons. George Jardine said of the new bakery, “Since the beginning of time man has strived to source the most natural grains to produce the finest breads. To be able to enjoy these in a beautiful environment such as The Bakery at Jordan – what more can one ask for!”

The relationship between highly acclaimed chef George Jardine and award-winning wine producers of Jordan Wine Estate, Gary and Kathy Jordan, started four years ago when Jordan Restaurant opened in 2009 on their Stellenbosch estate. Since inception the Jordan Restaurant has consistently been rated one of South Africa’s Top 10 restaurants by Eat Out Magazine.

With the launch of The Bakery at Jordan, the Jordans and Jardines have reinforced this relationship.

The Bakery atmosphere is relaxed and fun, evident in the modern, yet simple décor in neutral shades with a splash of red, where visitors can unwind and enjoy the freshly produced fare amongst the aromas of baking bread, pastries and freshly brewed coffee. Alternatively one may dine ‘al fresco’on either the lawns or thenewly completed wooden deck. Visitors can choose from a selection of dishes of the day, charcuteries, breads, dips, cheeses and pastries. Gary Jordan stated: “Our recently completed running trail and mountain bike route is complemented by The Bakery at Jordan where one can relax on a weekend after a cycle or trail run and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch. It is a wonderful way to wind down on the deck, under the trees, after a hectic week”.

The Bakery at Jordan will be open from Wednesday through Sunday, serving both breakfast and lunch as well as a selection offresh and preserved homemade items. From mid-January The Bakery will be open 7 days a week.

This year the Jordan family celebrates 30 years of owning Jordan Wine Estate and 21 years of winemaking. The hard work of the past 3 decades is evident in this pristine estate where visitors can enjoy awe-inspiring views of the surrounding mountains of Stellenbosch and the finely produced, award-winning Jordan wines. What better way to celebrate the coming of age than with the new venture of The Bakery at Jordan which reinforces the Jordan mantra of Synergy between Soul and Soil.
