Wine lovers with a passion for the equestrian are served a double delight this November when South Africa’s top show jumpers square off at the first Equestrian World Cup-jumping qualifying event to be held at the Stellenbosch District Riding Club (SDRC).

This event goes hand in hand with a Food, Wine and Craft Market at the same venue, at which some of the top Stellenbosch wineries’ creations will be on offer alongside fresh produce and homemade goods.

Chenin lovers especially can look forward to a taste of the latest vintages from fine purveyors of this varietal, as top chenin producers Somerbosch, Ken Forrester, Avontuur and Keermont Winery will be represented.

The Investec FEI World Cup Jumping Qualifier is the final chance for top South African riders to qualify for the 2014 FEI World Cup event to be held in France in April next year.

The SDRC, one of the leading equestrian facilities in the country, is located at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain and runs events in disciplines ranging from Dressage and Driving to Show Jumping and Eventing. The venue is easily accessible off the R44 between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.

The event runs from Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th November. Entrance is free on the 20th, 21st and 22nd November, with tickets for Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th available for purchase at R50 per person from either Computicket or at the gate.
