Don a funky fedora or flip on your favourite Stetson and make your way to
Clos Malverne Estate on the 31st of December, when this family-owned
wine farm, situated in the heart of the Devon Valley outside Stellenbosch, will
host a stylish Hats Off New Year’s
Celebration for you to salute the new year in good, gourmet company.
The popular Restaurant @ Clos Malverne will pull out all the stops with
an extravagant eight course food and wine feast, whilst guests, all dolled up
with their favourite hats, will bob and jive the night away to the classic sounds
of the live band, Double Jeopardy. When the clock strikes twelve, Clos Malverne
will uncork a memorable toast, when you will get a chance to raise a flute of
the estate’s newly released, maiden Brut Rosé Méthode Cap Classique, Ellie
– this captivating blush is an
exuberant celebration in a glass and will certainly add extra sparkle to this
sensory indulgence.
This extravagant Food & Wine Experience comprises eight sumptuous
dishes prepared by resident chef Nadia Louw Smith and matched with eight
exceptional Clos Malverne cellar gems. Her lavish menu kicks off with a
Crayfish Caesar Salad paired with a flute of the Clos Malverne Sauvignon Blanc
Brut followed by a ritzy Red Pepper Gazpacho and a glass of the estates
multi-crowned Sauvignon Blanc.
Nadia’s Spicy Seared Norwegian Salmon completes a tantalising third course
and will accompany the Clos Malverne Chardonnay to your table.
Palates will then be pampered with Slow Roasted Lamb Bitterballen with a
mustard and baby vegetable pickle and the estate’s popular Cabernet
Sauvignon/Shiraz blend after which Grilled Shitake Mushrooms, stuffed with
garlicky herbs and feta will share the spotlight with the Clos Malverne
Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend.
Next on her whopping bill of fare is a succulent Grilled Fillet Steak
which she marries with Clos Malverne’s limited release flagship Cape Blend,
Auret 2008.
