Longridge Wine Estate will be introducing their sensational summer experiences during the Helderberg Wine Festival from 14 – 17 November 2013.
Gearing up for summer, Longridge is adding fabulous picnic baskets and sumptuous sundowner platters to their scintillating summer menus. With covered patios and sweeping lawns nestled next alongside the organic vegetable and herb garden, this is a perfect spot for summer fun with friends and families.

On Saturday, 16 November and Sunday, 17 November, the Longridge restaurant will be serving an al fresco traditional potjiekos feast in their kitchen garden. Guests will have a choice of three types of potjies(slow-cooked stews in three-legged cast iron pots) including delicately curried tripe served with samp, Boeuf Bourguignon served on mashed potatoes or a chicken potjie with white wine, button mushrooms and thyme served with rice. Each dish will be accompanied by a crispy fresh garden salad and roasted beetroot as well as a glass of Longridge Rouge, Blanc or Rosé. One serving and a glass of wine cost R150 per person, while a tasting of all three potjies with wines are R185 per person. Coffee and friandise can be ordered for an additional R25 per person.

Watch the sun set behind Table Mountain, while enjoying some Longridge wines with a perfectly paired snack platter for two. The farmer’s platter costs R280 and includes biltong, blue cheese and camembert, sweet potato samosas, fresh fruit, smoked snoek pate, chicken liver parfait, home-made grape preserves and quince jelly and traditional melktert and koeksisters for dessert. At R300, the fusion platter includes a glass of Longridge bubbly with marinated Helderberg Trout, charcuterie such as koppa, salami and Parma ham, cumin, gorgonzola and aged goat gouda cheeses, fresh fruit, a selection of nuts and venison terrine served with freshly baked breads, olives, chocolate truffles and meringue.

Spend a lazy, relaxing day by spreading a picnic blanket and sipping a crisp summer white while sampling the spread from a sumptuous picnic basket. Picnic baskets must be pre-ordered and include a selection of breads with snoek pates, cold meats such as roasted beef loin, ham and salami, wheat salad, meatballs with tzatziki, a variety of cheeses, conserves, Cajun chicken breasts, onion and gruyere tartlets, salmon, pickles and strawberries and chocolate brownies for dessert. A basket for two people costs R350.
