As South Africa heads towards the summer holidays its back to school for aspiring bakers. Yuppiechef.com, an award winning online kitchen and home retailer, has launched The Art of Baking, a rewarding online learning experience for bakers. The surprising part? The course is free.

“Technology is changing the way people learn. With the proliferation of internet-enabled mobile devices, we see no reason why you can’t access the knowledge of a seasoned baker like Sarah from the comfort of your own kitchen, at the time of your convenience.”

- Tim Price, Head of Digital Marketing, Yuppiechef.com

Hosted by renowned South African foodie, Sarah Graham, the course comprises six lessons which learners can complete at their own pace, in their own home and from the device of their choice. The course is fully enabled for mobile to make life easier for people on-the-go and with busy schedules. Each lesson has four steps including: watching an engaging video tutorial; reading through the lesson notes to buff up knowledge and review key points; baking a recipe in their own kitchen; and finally, completing a quiz to unlock the next lesson. “The course is designed to demystify baking and will have eager learners mastering a variety of baked delicacies. All you have to do is register at learn.yuppiechef.com and get busy baking.” says Price.

Sarah Graham, author of the quirky cookbook bitten, food blogger at afoodieliveshere.co.za and celebrated TV personality, on teaming up with Yuppiechef.com to create the course, says “I was beyond excited to get involved in this project and so much effort, pride and passion has gone into it. There aren’t many resources out there and this course speaks to a wide variety of people. There are many tips and tricks to pick up on and I hope that aspiring bakers will love this course as much as I did”.

Explaining Yuppiechef.com’s innovative move into the online learning space, Price said, “There’s a lot of foodie content out there – shows, recipes, blogs – but while they provide entertainment value and beautiful content, they often don’t touch on the foundations vital to great baking.”

“By creating this course, we’re able not only to share inspirational recipes and tips, but also facilitate an engaging learning experience, give participants a boost in baking confidence and inspire them to get into the kitchen.”

From making a standard cake to delicious homemade pastries and freshly baked bread, the course has been designed to give even the most inexperienced bakers the foundational knowledge they need to master key baking subjects, while more experienced bakers will benefit from unique baking secrets and recipes.
