South Africa, Stellenbosch, October 2013: The superior level of excellence at Kleine Zalze has been affirmed thanks to the renowned Stellenbosch wine farm’s best-ever performance at the Farm Worker of the Year Awards for Stellenbosch.
In a show of strength, all five of the entrants in this year’s event received awards with four of them taking top honours in their respective categories.

These awards are only possible with an excellent team, which has now been highlighted in the Farm Worker of the Year competition.”
The winners from Kleine Zalze were Charlton Pietersen, second runner-up in the category of General Worker; Brandon Vermeulen, winner of the category for Technical Operator; Anesca Achilles, winner of the category for Administrative Staff; Jeffrey Abrahams, winner of the category for Irrigation Specialist; and, Norman Paulse, winner of the category for Junior Management.
The competition was established to acknowledge the valuable and important contribution by farm workers to the sustainability and growth of the agricultural sector in South Africa. Funded mainly by the Western Cape Department of Agriculture and Shoprite, the event comprises a regional awards programme with winners automatically considered for the provincial awards, which will be announced later this month. This year, 15 regions and 1 100 entrants are competing for the overall prize of R100 000.
