Wellington wine route
Wine, food, live entertainment, a fresh goods market, and a cook-off between celebrity chef Sonia Cabano and local chef Johan van Schalkwyk promise a day of fun for the whole family at the first ever “pop-up” Fork & Cork Wellington Wine Festival, Saturday, 14 September 2013 between 10h00 and 17h00 at Kleinevalleij, Wellington.

The Radio Kalahari Orkes and Bottomless Coffee will be on hand to entertain patrons whilst they lounge on the terraced lawns sipping on award-winning wines, or sampling the signature delicacies of six local restaurants to tantalise the tastebuds and compliment the offerings of the Mutual and Federal Agri Wellington Wine Route producers.

Celebrity chef, Sonia Cabano, best known for her role as presenter of the popular food programme ‘Pampoen tot Perlemoen’ will be taking on local chef, Johan van Schalkwyk, founder of Twist Some More, situated in a barn on a local Wellington farm, in a cook-off of gastronomic proportions.

Also on offer is a wine and food pairing showcasing the Top Ten Wines and Best Spirit winners from the Quest for the Best competition held prior to the festival. This competition represents the best that the district has to offer and was this year judged by five of South Africa’s foremost sommeliers.

Both these events are hosted by Festa at Kleinevalleij and carry an additional entry fee of R30 per event, per person, respectively. Seats are limited and tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

Children will be cared for in a designated play area by responsible childminders whilst mom and dad enjoy the wines on offer and will carry no extra cost to patrons.

Entry to the general festival area is R120 per person and includes a tasting glass and a booklet of tasting coupons. Additional tasting vouchers may be purchased.  Wine is available “by-the-bottle” directly from producers. Entry for children 17 and younger is free. Ample parking is available for patrons at the venue

Tickets may be purchased from Computicket. Space is limited and booking is essential.
