Van Ryn's Distillery, close to
Stellenbosch, the elegant home of South Africa's flagship name in potstill
brandy, is serving the beautiful brown brew as espresso (R15) or cappuccino
(R20), every week day and on Saturdays, along with just-baked, deliciously
moist and more-ish cake at R25 a slice.
You can also try the single-plantation
house coffee, paired with three award-winning Van Ryn's potstills and
customised chocolates to match. You'll find its enticing notes of fruit and
chocolate echo the flavours of the brandies and the locally made chocolates.
The Van Ryn’s 12 Year Old has been partnered with Cappuccino, a milk chocolate from a
blend of Ivory Coast cocoa beans, infused with a rich coffee. The 15 Year Old is paired with a Cinnamon
& Orange chocolate, while the 20 Year Old is matched with a French 70%
cocoa chocolate with a bitter-sweet aftertaste.
Sink into the plush couches in the
distillery's tasting area or sit in the lovely, fragrant garden under shady
umbrellas with that one extra cup.
