South African wine cellars have a new home in the recently established VinPro Wine Cellars division, with Christo Conradie as manager.
Conradie joined the VinPro team on 15 July, giving shape to the new division that originated from a merge between VinPro and Wine Cellars South Africa (WCSA).  Hence, the 56 producer cellars of the former WCSA – who process 75% of the total wine grape harvest – now form part of VinPro’s more than 3 600 wine producer and cellar members.

As a Robertson native and graduate of Stellenbosch University, Christo has a wide range of experience from agro-economy (in the wine industry) to banking, retail, as well as strategic business and process management in various positions and companies.  This included working at national management level for Absa and serving on the boards of two private organisations in Pretoria.  However, he remained passionate about the agricultural environment, and more specifically the wine industry.

The Wine Cellars division addresses the specific needs of its cellar members by, inter alia, focusing on the distribution of relevant management and market information, optimising efficiency in the cellar and logistics environments, co-ordinating cellar staff training, and addressing technical aspects in the field of processing.  The division will also liaise with role players – including Government – on behalf of cellars, on issues regarding policy and legislation.
