Avontuur
Avontuur Estate is beating the winter blues this year by kicking off their live music afternoons on the first Friday afternoon of every month.  The inaugural event is on Friday, 7 June from 3-6 pm on the terrace in front of the winery.
“We’re planning a cosy set-up with our Bedouin tent if the weather turns nasty, gas heaters, comfy throws , great wines and a special terrace menu featuring seasonal snacks, platters and tapa’s, courtesy of our restaurant,” says Michael Taberer, who is excited about the event.

Although various artists will be featured throughout the winter, Michael’s elder  brother Blair Taberer, who is making a name for himself as a solo artist, starts off the series.

Explaining his style Blair says; “ My sound can be described as acoustic folk, but it is infused via a loop pedal which blends  percussion and string slaps with a melodic interface, which makes it unique.  I am inspired by local muso’s like  Ard Matthews, Rory Elliot, Farryl Purkiss and International talent  like John Mayer, James Morrison, Dallas Green. “   Blair will be playing some cover versions and a few of his own songs, written during a recent sojourn in Nashville, Tenessee and we look forward to great music!

Bookings are not necessary, but to guarantee a spot especially for a group of friends who would like to sit together, it might be better to email winery@avontuurestate.co.za or phone the tasting room at 021 855-3450 to ensure the booking.

Whatever your mood, be prepared for a laid-back afternoon with a glass or two of red wine and some filling, warming snacks to ease into the weekend.
