We had an excellent harvest this year and are, so far, very happy with the results that it has given us. The first wines of the 2013 vintage, the Dekker’s Valley Chenin Blanc and Shiraz Rosé, will be bottled in June and not before time as our Shiraz Rose 2012 was very popular and has already sold out.
One of the major changes over the last couple of months is our new kitchen facility becoming operational in the tasting centre, and because of this we can now have more functions. One of the things you may be looking forward to is our innovative seasonal Pop-Up Restaurant that will offer a fine dining menu of fresh, local and seasonal ingredients over the course of a weekend. The first season will be “Spring” in late October or November, so watch this space for more details. The cheese platters have also been very popular over the summer months so we will continue with them for the time being – they will be available for the public at R180 for a two person platter including a wine tasting, but for club members at the special rate of R150. We will also be introducing a soup, bread and pâté platter for the winter months, which you will be able to enjoy in front of our newly installed fireplace. Please ensure you book your platter at least 24 hours in advance – we use fresh ingredients!
Keep in touch with us on our website www.mellasat.com ,like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter. In the meantime why not visit us this winter and enjoy a cheese or soup platter with a glass or bottle of Shiraz, Revelation or Mellasat “M” that will compliment the platter perfectly. You can then take advantage of stocking up on some of Mellasat’s best winter wines - remember all Wine Club members receive 15% on all their wines as well as on the platters so this is a perfect opportunity to join the wine club if you haven’t already done so. Every month we hold a draw for people that join the wine club that month, and one lucky winner stands a chance to win our fabulous hamper that includes six wines, a coffee table book, branded ice bucket and cork screw!
Winners of the previous months’ draws were:
•John Lodwick of Cape Town
•Ronel Sheriff of Paarl
•Debbie Les of Yzerfontein
•Richard Visagie of Paarl
•David Nelson of Melkbos
Kindest regards from the Mellasat Vineyards team
