At the time of writing this, the 2013 Harvest is nearing the 30 000 ton mark, with another 7000 tons, mainly of the red varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Ruby Cabernet) still in the vineyard, to be harvested over the next three weeks. As predicted, we’ve had a late start this year with the early ripening varieties like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc only ready at least 10 days later than normal.
The later ripening varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon however were on time which forced the winemakers to harvest at a tremendous and rather exciting pace. At the moment, we are very happy with both the quality and quantity of the 2013 harvest.  Even at this early stage, both the red and white are looking very promising in terms of quality. Right now, the race is on to make sure that the remaining grapes make it safely and speedily into the cellar where we will finish the ferments and start the fantastic process of blending the 2013 wines. Salute!
