Spier wins Best South African Red Wine Trophy

The inaugural Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition award ceremony took place from 8 - 10 November 2012. Spier was awarded the trophy for the best South African red wine for the Savanha Naledi Cabernet Sauvignon 2010.
The wine is complex and decadent with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberries and hints of cedar spice, truffle and spearmint. The palate is well-rounded and has a lingering finish of toasty flavours. It is the ideal accompaniment to oxtail stew, roast lamb and smoked meats.

This fantastic wine was among some of the best in the world that won trophies at the competition, which is considered to be the first truly Asian wine competition. Judging was conducted by Asia’s most esteemed wine judges from China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and India. It is run in partnership with the prestigious London-based International Wine & Spirit Competition, which as been running for 40 years.
