Elgin Vintners
Finally, after the coldest recorded winter in 45 years in our Elgin Valley, spring is finally yielding its floral splendour. The rose hedges lining our roads are all about to burst forth in colourful splendour. In the vineyards we are watching the very first beginnings of the vine flowering, which, all going well, will set and develop into the grape bunches.
In our cellar two new vintages are available. Try our super quaffer – Merlot Rose 2012 @ R45.00 per bottle. Believe me even "real men" will enjoy this wine. It’s dry, it’s pretty and is a mouthful of summer berries.

The 2011 Sauvignon Blanc, with just a splash of Semillon to embellish it, is your perfect aperitif or can be enjoyed with fresh Cape mussels and summer salads loaded with goats milk cheese (feta). It’s a dead cert with any tomato-based meal. Ex cellar @ R65.00 per bottle.

Why not combine a visit to the gardens of Elgin with a visit to our cellar where you can taste a vertical line up of three vintages of Sauvignon Blanc. We have the 2009, 2010 and 2011 vintages available.

There is something for everyone and we will surprise and educate you with regards the staying power of our elegant Sauvignon Blanc wines!

Whilst on the theme of summer wines we are extremely proud of our flagship white blend, The Century 2011, which was recently one of only three blended white wines to receive a Winemakers’ Choice Diamond Award. What we really like about this competition is that is judged by the winemakers themselves. The criteria are strict and only about 10% of the wines entered receive an award.
