Monro Brut 2007, Villiera’s prestige Méthode Cap Classique, has wowed international judges at the 2012 Five Nations Challenge Competition in Australia, bringing home the Trophy for the best bottle fermented sparkling wine AND it was awarded the overall Best Wine On Show (out of 540 wines).
This follows a Decanter Gold, Regional Trophy and Veritas Gold all awarded to the Monro Brut 2007, showing that it has been recognised by local and international judges as a top quality MCC.

The FIVE Nations Wine Challenge commenced in 2003 (with its head office in Sydney) as the Tri Nations Wine Challenge. In 2011 Argentina and Chile joined Australia, New Zealand and South Africa to make five. This show is unique in that the wines in the Challenge exclusively come in by invitation from the judges. Annually the five judges each choose a total of 110 wines from their country, spread across the classes with no more than nine wines in any one class.

The Presentation Tasting event and Winners' Dinner was held in Sydney on the 26th October and master classes and dinners are planned in Shanghai and Hong Kong to maximize the achievement for the winners.

Monro is a family name given to Villiera’s flagship red blend and flagship Cap Classique. The Villiera Monro Brut 2007 is a full rich blend of the classic Champagne varietals, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir & Pinot Meunier. It shows great complexity and a classic yeasty character due to prolonged maturation on the lees (for over 4 years).
