Delheim
The Sperlings of Delheim open the gates to their vineyards but once a year, sharing the best of the scenic vistas of the Simonsberg - and some of the most sought-after single track trails in the Cape.
This year the annual Delheim MTB event will extend the full weekend of 17 and 18 November; and as a special bonus a night ride will be offered for the first time, taking the experience to a whole new level of Mountain Biking.

The event kicks off with two trail runs on Saturday 17 November from 7h30, featuring challenging 7km and 12km routes. A refreshment station on each route will offer drinks, jellies, fruit and nuts, while muffins and coffee will be available for sale from registration onwards. Runners can stay on after the category prize giving to taste the wines in Delheim’s ambient ‘downstairs’ cellar, order a food platter or enjoy the gemütlichkeit of the Garden Restaurant, subject to pre-booking.

The night ride will commence at 19h30, traversing jeep- and single track by the light of a near-full moon. A 12km route and 7km route will be offered; but don’t be fooled by the distances, the climbs are challenging! Two lamps are recommended per participant; one on helmet and one on handlebar. Drinks will be given to all finishers, and as with all events, pre-registered participants will receive goodie bags.

The fun continues the following morning on Sunday 18 November with the MTB day, featuring 7km, 12km and 24km trails, the latter being a double-loop event. Expect to climb en route, and experience some of the Cape’s very best single track. The event starts from 8.30am, and from registration onwards, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, and light breakfast will be offered for sale, while lunch can be had, subject to booking, at the Garden Restaurant.

Registration will start an hour and a half before each event at Delheim wine farm in Stellenbosch.

Entry fees range from R50 for the night ride to R100 for the 24km MTB event, with discounts and goodie bags for those who pre-enter at Dirtopia website by Wednesday 14 November. R10 from each entry will be donated to the Simonsberg Environmental Education Centre.
