Consumers stocking up their wine cellars for the festive season have had their lives made a whole lot easier, with the launch of Wine magazine's mobi site, http://winemag.mobi.
The customised version of the winemag.co.za website offers a wide range of wine- and food-related content. Among its attractions is a comprehensive database of wine reviews and ratings as determined by Wine's panels of experts over the past three years - around 8000 wines in all.

"Consumers are presented with an overwhelming choice and welcome any guidelines to narrow this down," commented Wine's publishing editor, Cathryn Henderson. "By bringing the search function of our website to their handsets, we've made wine shopping easy and convenient and eliminated the need to carry weighty resource material. Find a Wine is based on the search engine of our website. No bulky guides required - now wine lovers can select a bottle off the shelf, quickly check its rating on their cell phones and enjoy it over dinner, comfortable with having made an informed choice," she said.

Wine magazine will be adding wine and food pairings to its content offering on the mobi site, as well as wines from the Best Value Wine Guide, the eminently quaffable at less than R60 a bottle as well as Icons, the top wines to emerge from the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.

The mobi site also carries the latest wine-related news and events, highlights of the current issue, delicious recipes and several attractive competitions.
