Aubergine & Auslese
Harald Bresselschmidt, celebrated chef patron of Aubergine Restaurant, would like to announce the opening of his new venture, AUSLESE, a specialised wine and food pairing venue opening in December 2009.
Auslese is conveniently situated in an historic building at 115 Hope Street in Gardens, Cape Town. The décor is simple and classic, reflecting the history of the region.

The name, Auslese, literally means "chosen harvest". It is a term denoting a quality level in German riesling classification whereby only perfectly ripe bunches of grapes are carefully hand-picked. These grapes are used to make a high quality, generally sweeter style wine that can be enjoyed on its own or with food. Auslese embodies the care that Harald takes in selecting and pairing flavours and textures with well-crafted wines.

Harald's vision is to enhance the Cape's sophisticated tradition of viniculture by encouraging the appreciation of wine and food pairing. Auslese will offer an exclusive setting in which to introduce and showcase new and exciting wines and vintages. Harald’s exquisite hors d'oeuvres will bring out the best in the wines on show through complementary and contrasting flavours. A true gastronomic delight!

Incorporating elegant reception rooms and an expertly designed maturation cellar, Auslese will cater for a range of possibilities - from small intimate wine pairing dinners with wine makers, to larger more informal launches of up to 150 guests.

Auslese lends itself as an ideal venue for hosting art exhibitions and musical soirees accompanied by top class food and wine.

Harald and his team look forward to welcoming you and your guests to inspiring journeys into the marriage of wine and food.
