Official Announcement of the Sale of Wine from 1 June 2020

Flagstone Winery
On Sunday evening, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that South Africa will enter Level 3 of the lockdown from 1 June. This will ease a number of the regulations, including the sale of alcohol. Our online sales of alcohol will be open for delivery, but only as specified - from Monday to Thursday between 10h00 and 16h00.

In a televised address, President Ramaphosa noted the nationwide lockdown’s effectiveness in slowing the spread of Covid-19, but that it could not be sustained indefinitely. At Flagstone Wines, we are delighted to welcome back the sale of our beautiful wines to our valued Wine Club Members. We would like to take this opportunity to thank every one of you who have supported us over the last few years and continue to do so during these unprecedented times.

The extensive volume of orders received through our new Flagstone e-commerce website and the direct orders emailed to our Cellar Door Manager, Ilze Fouche, are a testament to your support. Thank you for your loyalty.

This notice serves as an update on the process we will employ to manage the distribution and despatch of your orders over the next few days, once the alcohol ban is lifted on Monday, 1 June 2020.

PLEASE NOTE - THE FLAGSTONE CELLAR DOOR WILL NOT BE OPEN FOR PEOPLE TO ARRIVE AT THE WINERY AND PURCHASE WINE. WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TRADE AS A RETAILER. ONLY PREPAID ORDERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION.
*The sale of liquor is permitted from Monday - Thursday between 09h00 and 17h00.

The following process will be followed:
1.    All orders placed online through the Flagstone E-commerce Website have been processed in our export warehouse over the last 4 days. These will be delivered on a first come first served basis from 08h00 on Monday, 1 June 2020.

  • All orders outside the Cape Town area are being collected by our courier Fastway at 09h00 on Monday and will be delivered over 48/72 hours, depending on location. Orders in, and around, the Cape Town and Somerset West areas, will be delivered by our usual drivers and sales staff during the day on Monday 1 and Tuesday, 2 June 2020. (Please be patient, we will get the wine to you as soon as possible).

2.    Pre-Paid Orders placed by Club Members directly through the Cellar Door with Ilze, will be available for collection through a ‘Controlled Code and Collect Process’. Please be aware, you will receive confirmation of your order via email and on receipt of payment, Ilze will send you a time slot which will allow you to drive to the winery and collect your pre-paid order, from your vehicle, in a controlled and safely-managed environment.

  • We are required by LAW to follow the strict rules and regulations set out by our government and must adhere to the Covid-19 safety regulations of social distancing, hygiene control, no group gatherings and controlled retail sales.
  • Please do not come to the winery to collect your pre-paid order unless you have been given a specific time slot. On arrival at the winery, please follow the signage and do not get out of your vehicle, we will bring the orders to you.

We understand that many of you are frustrated with not being able to buy your favourite wine products and that you are anxious to stock up, but please adhere to the process so that we can ensure that everyone gets their orders safely and timeously over the first few days.

Many Thanks
