Pebbles Project
When The Pebbles Project opened its doors 15 years ago, Jamie-Lee Plaatjies was in primary school. She attended the Pebbles After School Club based on the farm where she lives.

The After School Club programme provided Jamie with daily assistance with her homework and school projects. Due to Jamie’s hard work and the dedicated support from the Pebbles teachers, she went on to pass matric successfully in 2014.

In 2015 Jamie joined the Pebbles School Leaver Programme where she received assistance with career guidance and life skills support such as CV writing and interview skills. Jamie decided to follow her dream and chose to study Early Childhood Development education at Bergzicht Training Centre.

Jamie is now employed by Pebbles as an assistant in the After School Club Grade R Programme. The Grade R programme aims to ensure the younger learners are ready for school, by increasing their social and emotional development while incorporating practical perceptual, visual and gross motor skills. Grade R learners are also supported with basic literacy and reading skills and Jamie has shown a particular passion for this work.

Jamie was recently a participant of the Pebbles Pregnant Mothers Baby Box programme.  The baby box programme focuses on supporting pregnant women throughout their pregnancy until the birth of their child, providing mothers-to-be with important information about their pregnancy and childbirth to ensure the wellness of both mother and baby. At the end of the pregnancy, the mother receives a baby box filled with essential items needed by the mother and child during the first few weeks of the baby’s life.

The Baby Box that Jamie received was generously sponsored by Kleine Zalze, along with an additional 4 baby boxes allocated to other new mothers participating in the programme.

Congratulations to Jamie in the birth of your baby boy, and thank you to Kleine Zalze for your donation which had such a positive impact on this new life.

With baby Logan, the whole cycle starts again.

If any individual or corporate would like to sponsor a baby box please get in touch with Rachel at sponsorachild@pebblesproject.co.za

The main emphasis of the Pebbles Project is education. We enrich the lives of disadvantaged children and families in the Winelands farming communities in the Western Cape.  We focus on the entire life of the child and the challenging circumstances in which they live in order to make a significant and lasting difference. Since our inception in 2004, we have impacted the lives of children and their families by providing support and intervention in five key areas: Education, Health, Nutrition, Community and Protection.
