Best of Winelands returns to Joburg
Wish you could get away for a weekend of wine-tasting at world-class wine estates? We’re giving you the chance to do just that, right in the heart of Joburg! For a gloriously relaxing two days on 5 and 6 October, The Stellenbosch Wine Festival Joburg presented by Pick n Pay invites you to experience a superb selection of Stellenbosch wine. In fact, we’re planning to give you such an authentic experience, you won’t be blamed for thinking you’re in the actual winelands!
Over 40 Stellenbosch wine estates will participate in this year’s festival, which will be held over two days at the Wanderers Club Cricket Fields in Illovo. Some of the estates to look forward to, among many others, are Kaapzicht, L’Avenir, Middelvlei, Kleine Zalze and Spier.
Every imaginable varietal will be on offer for you to swirl, sniff and sample, and once you’ve tasted a wine you love, you’ll be able to purchase it right there – at the same price you’d pay at the estate.
Where there’s wine, there’s food, and for starters, we’ll be showcasing a simply sumptuous selection at the Pick n Pay Fresh Food Market. All the latest Pick n Pay fresh bread, cheeses, meats, deli items, and farm-fresh fruit and veg will be available for your sampling pleasure.
For sale at the Fresh Food Market we’ll have something for every taste – from delicious burgers and fish and chips to elegant cheese platters, steak boards and vegetarian offerings too. Our coffee truck will also be onsite serving up a variety of hot and cold beverages.
If you’ve always wanted to impress your friends with your food-and-wine pairing prowess, a session at the Pick n Pay Tasting Room is just the thing! Chefs and winemakers will show you how it’s done with personal picks from their estates, along with and melt-in-your-mouth canapes and et viola! Your dinner parties will never be the same again! No event is complete without live entertainment and we have an exciting line-up scheduled to perform throughout the festival: Majozi, Jerry & the Bandits and Pilani Bubu are just three of the talented musicians who will keep the vibe going and your feet tapping, while Hot FM’s favourite DJs will broadcast directly from the event all weekend long!

- Children under 18 are obviously not allowed to participate in the wine-tasting but are more than welcome to join in the fun, entrance free of charge.
