This year FynArts takes place from 8 to 17 June and the estate looks forward to showcasing the works of accomplished sculptor, Gordon Froud. The artist has been actively involved in both the South African and the international art world for the past 30 years. Commenting on FynArts, Creation marketing director Carolyn Martin says that the estate has been an avid supporter of the arts and especially of local artists since its inception. “Art is a fantastic analogy for winemaking considering that the winemaker takes the raw materials of nature and ‘sculpts’ them into something which, although still composed of its basic parts, is greater than the sum - an Art indeed.”
To celebrate this fact Creation launched its exclusive The Art of Creation wine range in 2013. Comprising a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir, the single-vineyard, single-site ‘Art’ range has since won accolade upon accolade. Among the latest are scores of 95 for the 2017 Creation Art of Chardonnay and 94-95 for the 2017 Creation Art of Pinot Noir (barrel sample) allocated by the authoritative Greg Sherwood MW.
Aptly titled ‘Geometrica’, the Gordon Froud exhibition at Creation continues the artist’s exploration of geometric forms. Created in welded steel mesh and powder-coated in bright colours, the works consist of large and small sculptures and promise to elicit great interest. The exhibition will be open daily from 10h00 to 16h00.
To coincide with FynArts, Creation is introducing a delectable winter menu titled ‘The Artisanal Story of Creation’.
