Jon Arvid Rosengren, (Sweden) is the 2016 Best World Sommelier

Jon Arvid Rosengren, from Sweden, became the new Best World Sommelier after winning the final of the Concours du Meilleur Sommelier du Monde Argentina 2016 over David Biraud, from France, and Julie Dupouy, representing Ireland (but born in France).

Jon Arvid Rosengren, 31 years old, qualified for the World Best Sommelier competition as the Best Sommelier of Europe 2013. He was also Best Sommelier of the Nordic Countries 2009, Best Sommelier of Sweden 2010 and 2011 and Semi-finalist of the World Best Sommelier 2013. He is the sommelier at Charlie Bir in New York.
 
About four hundred people followed the final phase of the event in the Teatro de la Independencia at Mendoza City. At the same time, thousands of wine lovers around the world followed the final event via the live streaming set by the organization.
 
The announcements of all 40 best positions of the competition will be announced later this evening.
 
Argentina 2016 is the fifteen edition of the Concours du Meilleur Sommelier du Monde, organized by the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale (ASI) and the Argentine Sommelier Association (AAS).
 
South Africa was delighted to be represented for the first time ever at the competition by Top SA Sommelier Gareth Ferreira, who did really well, getting into the Top 15 (of the total 61 contestants)
